Viewers saying psychological thriller is ‘better than the original’ with ‘perfect’ ending

A new psychological thriller has dropped, and fans claim the remake is ‘better than the original’.

There’s nothing quite like getting into the Halloween spirit by scaring yourself sh*tless and binge-watching scary flicks.

Whether you’re a horror, gore or psychological thriller fan, this film has received rave reviews from those who have dared to watch it.

The story focuses on a family that is invited ‘to spend a whole weekend in a lonely home in the countryside, but as the weekend progresses, they realize that a dark side lies within the family who invited them’.

James McAvoy takes the lead in the movie and viewers have been raving about his stellar performance.

He stars alongside the likes of Mackenzie Davis, Scoot McNairy and Aisling Franciosi.

The 2024 remake is the latest instalment, with the original 2022 casting being Dutch and Danish, as it’s set around a new friendship.

One critic on the Rotten Tomatoes site praised: “As a fan of the original, I really think this did it justice and added a new twist and made its own film.”

A second penned: “B*****dizes the original in the exact way everyone feared it would when it was announced and yet, it still works?”

Fans of Speak No Evil have left raving comments on the Netflix Bangers Facebook group, describing how amazed they were at the production quality of the movie.

One person wrote: “Omg this movie is so good to watch.

“The ending is perfectly done.”

Another said: “Excellent movie definitely better than the original.”

Someone else commented: “I liked it much better than the original! Especially the ending.”

A fourth said: “Good movie with amazing performance by James McAvoy.”

Lead actor McAvoy found out exactly what people thought of his film after watching it for the first time at ComicCon with a live audience earlier this year.

He told Sky News: “I might never watch another film with an audience again because it was wicked.

“Every time I wanted them to laugh, they were laughing. Every time I wanted them to get shocked and scared, they were scared and then they surprised me with other stuff that happened.

“The biggest thing that surprised me is people were throwing stuff at the screen at one point when my character was being particularly toxic, which was amazing.

“It was brilliant.”

McAvoy also shared how the film attempted to set itself apart from the original, which had a very different ending.

He shared: “One of the things the film is about is compliance and how compliant we have become as a society and how that is potentially, I think the film is arguing, a big problem because we accept terrible behaviour not just from individuals like Paddy, but from society and governments and institutions that run our lives”.

The Scottish actor added: “I feel like we tried to do something specific with this film and you never know if you’re actually going to manage or not. This thing turned out like I think we wanted it to turn out.”
