Owners of the race course where nine-year-old Brooke Carlton was tragically killed have spoken out and announced their closure.
Bosses of Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park, located in California about an hour drive from the heart of Los Angeles, have taken to social media to explain the decision to close the race track five months on from Brooke’s death.
Shortly before 10am on June 2 of this year, Brooke collided with another rider in what was described as a ‘freak accident’. She fell unconscious at the scene, before being rushed to hospital where she later passed away.
The other young rider in the collision was treated for minor injuries.

Earlier this week on November 3, the owner of the motocross course posted on Facebook: “It is with great sadness that we announce the closing of LEMX. Due to a lawsuit from a tragic accident that occurred in June the property owner has terminated our agreement as they are being brought into it as well.
“It was their decision It would be in their best interest to have the track closed. I can’t say as [sic] I blame them. All in all they have been very good to deal with as has the City of Lake Elsinore.
“While there has been many challenges along the way we have enjoyed operating the track very much.
“It is my opinion that we were very lucky to have such a terrific group of customers as well as such fine people working at the track. It has been an honor and a pleasure to see you all at the track.”
However, a lawyer who represents the Carlton family explained per CBS that while they have investigated the accident, no lawsuit has been filed against the park.

They went on to explain that Brooke’s family doesn’t want to hurt Lake Elsinore’s motocross community – with Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park being the largest track in Southern California.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help support Brooke’s family after the tragic loss, which has raised over $85,000 at the time of writing.
The fundraiser’s organiser, Ally Giles, posted a statement from Brooke’s family to the page, which read: “Yesterday the good Lord called our dear Brooke Lily to heaven after a freak accident at a local motocross track. Our entire family is still trying to understand why our Brookie, but we firmly believe that God needed her and called her home to be with him.
“While we take this time to be with our family, PLEASE lift our family into your thoughts and prayers, and hold your loved ones a little tighter for us as we try to navigate through this sudden hurdle in our lives. We love you always and forever Brooke Lily. #irideforbrooke.”
