Autopsy reveals if Liam Payne was conscious or not when he fell to his death aged 31

More information is coming to light about Liam Payne’s heartbreaking death.

On Wednesday (October 16), Payne was pronounced dead at Buenos Aires hotel, Argentina, after having fallen from his hotel room balcony.

The singer, who was 31 years old, was reportedly under the influence at the time, with police going on to find alcohol and medicines such as clonazepamand in his hotel room.

He died from ‘internal and external’ bleeding.

In the days prior to his untimely passing, Payne had attended his former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan’s concert with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy.

He also shared a photo to his Snapchat of him and Horan together saying that they’d be ‘reunited’.

Many questions still remain about Payne’s death, but Argentinian authorities do not think that a third party was involved.

It’s also been revealed whether Payne was conscious or not went he fell.

An autopsy that’s been obtained and translated by US Weekly reads: “No injuries were observed that would suggest the involvement of third parties.

“The prosecutor’s office indicated that, based on the position in which the body was found and the injuries from the fall, it is presumed that Payne did not adopt a reflexive posture to protect himself and may have fallen in a state of semi or total unconsciousness.”

Payne was quite candid about his mental health and substance abuse over the years and just last year had celebrated being 100 days sober.

Speaking to iFL TV in May 2023, the ‘Get Low’ singer said he felt ‘amazing’.

“I’m sober now, over 100 days,” Payne proudly shared.

“I feel amazing, I feel really, really good and the support from the fans has been really, really good, so I’m super happy.”

He went on to say of this then-upcoming album: “I definitely want to tour this time, which is unusual because I wasn’t sure I was going to tour for a long time.

“I was kind of over it for a little bit, but I’m really excited to get back out on the road and go and see all the fans and get about a bit. It’s going to be fun.”

However, earlier this month it was reported that his second album had been put on pause despite the singer ‘doing really well’ with it.

“Liam had been doing really well on his second album but now it’s completely on pause,” an insider told The Sun.

“Liam is telling people now he has no idea if it’ll ever be released.”
