The sad news is that they still haven’t found the fountain of eternal youth, meaning you, your friends, celebrities, and public figures alike are all going to suffer changes in appearance thanks to ageing.
While some are content to let their wrinkles develop, others like to dabble in fillers and cosmetic surgery to make them appear more like their fresh-faced selves.
One actor who has faced accusations of going under the knife in previous years is former teen idol and High School Musical heartthrob Zac Efron.
The rumor mill started up again last summer when the 37-year-old embarked on the press tour for his latest movie, A Family Affair.
The Netflix offering sees Efron playing an insufferable movie star called Chris Cole who happens to fall in love with his assistant Zara’s (played by Joey King) mum, Brooke Harwood (Nicole Kidman), after running into her at the home she shares with her daughter.
Some Netflix viewers complained that Efron didn’t really look like himself in the rom-com, complaining they were ‘distracted’ by The Iron Claw actor’s different-looking face.
But die-hard fans of the Californian know that his strong-looking jawline isn’t a new feature.
In 2013, Efron suffered a serious injury in his home that left him with a shattered jaw.
It’s understood he had been running through his home in a pair of socks when he slipped and hit his face on a granite fountain.
Efron’s jaw bone was reportedly hanging off his face following the fall and he was forced to have it wired shut.
While many people know about his accident, the actor still faces questions about people’s plastic surgery speculations.
Ahead of the release of his AppleTV+ movie The Greatest Beer Run Ever in 2022, Efron sat down with Entertainment Tonight where he was asked what he thought about the plastic surgery rumors.
“I don’t really read the internet,” Efron replied. “It was funny. It sucked. I almost died,” he went on to say of his 2013 accident.
As to why Efron’s jaw looks particularly wider than it once did, he has previously explained that different muscles in his face had to work harder to compensate for his devastating injury.
As of 2022, he was still undergoing physical therapy to try correct this.
Noting that he had to take some time off from therapy, while filming the second season of Down to Earth with Zac Efron in Australia, he told Men’s Health: “The masseters just grew. They just got really, really big.”
The masseter muscles are a pair of muscles in the jaw that are responsible for chewing and are located on both the left and right side of your face.
