Boyfriend claims he was forced to vote in US election after his girlfriend gave him brutal ultimatum

boyfriend forced to vote election

A man has gone viral after he claims to have been forced to vote in the US election because his girlfriend gave him a brutal ultimatum.

Brian Flores told CNN how his partner threatened to break up with him if he did not vote for Kamala Harris.

He had planned to vote in the election, but the threat from his girlfriend made his reconsider.

The reporter from CNN asked Brian how he had come to his voting decision, to which the man from Charlotte, North Carolina, replied: “So, I wasn’t going to vote at all until my girlfriend was blowing up my phone telling me to go vote. And if I didn’t, she was going to break up with me. So, now I’m here.”

However, Brian did concede his partner didn’t actually threaten to break up with him, as the CNN reporter asked: “Was she seriously going to break up with you?”

“No I made that up, she didn’t say that but it’s funny to say that so,” Brian replied.

“I wasn’t gonna vote at all… I was gonna stay home, eat some chips or something, I don’t know.”

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the hilarious interview has gone viral on social media as votes continue to be counted across the country.

“The post-vote interview can be so entertaining. Well done, Brian Flores of Charlotte, North Carolina,” one person penned on Twitter.

“Mr Brian Flores telling CNN that he only voted because his girlfriend made him and that he would rather have sat at home and eaten chips is absolutely peak young millennial,” a second added.

It was Donald Trump who won the state of North Carolina at this election, adding 16 electoral votes to his tally.

Trump edged out Joe Biden in North Carolina by a little more than a point in 2020.

The former US president has since declared victory after also being projected to win the swing sates of Georgia and Pennsylvania.

“Every single day I will be fighting for you, with every single breath in my body. I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe and prosperous America that children deserve,” Trump said at his campaign’s HQ in West Palm Beach, Florida, earlier on Wednesday (6 November).

“And that you deserve. This will truly be the golden age for America.”

The Republicans haven’t been announced as winners just yet as Trump is yet to reach the magic 270 electoral votes.
