Dax Shepard admits to being shocked by wife Kristen Bell’s chemistry with co-star in new Netflix series

Dax Shepard has admitted to being shocked by his wife Kristen Bell’s chemistry with her co-star in Netflix’s latest romance series.

Everyone knowns acting is acting at the end of the day, though it certainly can’t be easy to see your other half cosying up to someone else on screen.

Shepard has had to experience that recently due to Bell’s involvement with Adam Brody in the Netflix rom-com Nobody Wants This.

The show follows Joanne (Bell), a sex podcaster who falls for newly single rabbi Noah (Brody) and released on the popular streaming platform last month, with the likes of Justine Lupe, Jackie Tohn, and Timothy Simons joining Bell and Brody in the cast.

Brody and Bell’s characters build up quite the romantic spark in Nobody Wants This, something Shepard was asked about during the New Yorker Festival on Saturday (26 October).

As per People, Shepard was asked about the ‘incredible chemistry’ he has with his wife, which led to a rather unexpected answer from the actor and comedian.

“Not as good as her and Brody,” Shepard told surprised reporters.

Speaking of a kiss shared between his wife and Brody’s character on screen, Shepard added: “My friend … we watched that scene together, the kissing scene, which I’d argue is the very best kissing scene ever, ever put on film.

“And my best friend, Aaron, from childhood, he goes, ‘Does she ever kiss you like that?’ No, I didn’t even know she could kiss like that.”

Earlier this month, Bell spoke to E! News about her steamy scenes with Brody and how Shepard reacted to them.

She said: “Even I can acknowledge watching it, like, ‘Whoa, that’s hot’. My husband said the same thing. Like, watching the first episode he was like, ‘Oh my God, I want you to kiss him so badly’.”

While the chemistry between the actors on screen may seem very real, Bell claimed it was anything but.

“I’m not trying to be reductive, but I think there’s a math to it,” she continued.

“You have two actors that know how to stare dopily into each other’s eyes, and you have to have the confidence to expand that and really sit the anticipatory value before the kiss —which I think is really important.”

Nobody Wants This is available to stream on Netflix now.
