Eva Mendes is certainly dedicated to motherhood, but this one rule she has might raise some eyebrows in the modern world.
While Ryan Gosling is considered one of the most fawned over men in Hollywood, he has been off the market for quite some time.
The actor became romantically involved with now-retired actress Eva Mendes back in 2011, and the two have since been married and have welcomed two daughters together.
That actually might be news to you, since the pair are notoriously tight-lipped about their relationship and family life, so fair enough.

But in a new interview, Mendes has opened the doors ever so slightly to give fans an insight into her style of parenting and her relationship with Gosling.
Speaking to The Times, one standout was her explaining a rule she and Gosling have for their two daughters – Esmeralda, 10, and Amanda, eight.
And even if you grew up with fairly strict parents, or are parents now yourself, it is quite possible you might raise your eyebrows a little bit when you hear it.
She said that her two children, who are both homeschooled, are not allowed to use smartphones or social media at their home.

She explained: “Putting my kid on the internet and being like, ‘Oh, search something’, that to me is equivalent to telling her, ‘Oh, just go down the street in the middle of the night. You’ll be fine’.
“I know that sounds extreme, but that’s what I feel.”
That might be a little bit of an oversimplification, I think you can avoid the evil internet rabbit hole if you simply wanted to google what the capital of Iceland is (it’s Reykjavik, for those who were wondering), but to each their own.
But with social media being a cesspit of the most terrible opinions on every single topic and the occasional cute video, it is probably a good thing to limit a child’s exposure to it.
During the interview, Mendes also spoke about the difficulties of motherhood, she said: “I still have all this anxiety, and I see myself passing it on to my children.

“Subconsciously I can’t imagine what they’re inheriting from me that I don’t want them to inherit from me.”
She also explained that she is taking practical steps not to pass on her anxiety.
Mendes said that she never talks negatively about her body, weight or ageing in front of them and asks that her sisters, when they come to visit, stick to that rule as well.
But she did admit she won’t be able to keep control of this narrative for much longer as they are starting to get older.
