Gypsy Rose Blanchard has confirmed exactly who the father of her unborn child is after the internet was awash with ‘a lot of chatter’ regarding the paternity.
Former inmate Blanchard, 33, revealed she was having her first child with boyfriend Ken Urker in July.
The pair struck up a relationship while she was serving time behind bars for her hand in the 2015 murder of her mother, Claudine ‘Dee Dee’ Blanchard, and were briefly engaged before calling it quits.
Blanchard explained to PEOPLE in May that Urker was initially her pen pal and that their relationship later escalated. Despite proposing to her in 2018, their on-and-off courtship concluded before her jail release last year.
In 2022, the victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy married her now-estranged husband Ryan Anderson behind bars.
The pair split this April, with Blanchard filing for divorce before later confirming she and Urker had rekindled their romance.
The two expect to welcome their daughter into the world in January 2025 and now, the social media influencer has confirmed whether her ex-husband or her boyfriend is the father.
It was speculated that Anderson’s name could be listed on the birth certificate due to Louisiana Law stating: “If the mother is married to someone other than the biological father when the child was conceived or has been divorced for less than 300 days at the time of birth, the husband/ex-husband shall be the presumed father, unless paternity is established for the biological father.”
Wanting to set the record straight, Blanchard took to Instagram on Tuesday (November 5), to confirm she and Urker had both undergone a non-invasive prenatal paternity test last month.
The social media post confirmed that the former prisoner submitted blood liquid on October 28 while Urker handed over a buccal smear to the DNA Diagnostics Center.
The DNA was tested a day later (October 29) and the State of Ohio confirmed Blanchard’s current boyfriend was 99.9 percent likely to be the father of her unborn child – not Anderson.
Alongside the image of the paternity test, the mother-to-be explained that she and her boyfriend were ‘so excited’ to become parents.
“There’s been a lot of chatter around the paternity of our baby and while we’ve known for sure from the beginning, I feel that it’s finally time to put all these theories to rest,” she told her 746,000 Instagram followers.
“Here are the results showing Ken is the father. Ken is going to be an incredible dad and we are so excited to welcome our baby girl into the world.”
Despite preparing to have a child together, Blanchard and Urker cannot live together after they welcome her.
Appearing on an episode of Nick Viall’s popular The Viall Files, the Louisiana native revealed her parole restrictions prohibit her from living with her partner.
“So I am still living with my parents in Cut Off, which is an hour away from [Urker],” she told The Bachelor alumna.
“I’m gonna be living there until I’m off of parole. So we’re like, okay, how is this gonna work whenever the baby’s born?
“Like, how many days could I spend with you, and how many days can you spend with me?
“You know, who will she be with? As, you know, we’re going back and forth, and we’re doing kind of essentially co-parenting even though we are together.”
