Iggy Azalea explains reasons for quitting OnlyFans despite being top celebrity earner

Rapper Iggy Azalea was once one of the highest earning stars on OnlyFans, but now she’s explained her reasons for quitting and where fans can find her instead.

The music star, who is known for her hits such as ‘Fancy’ and ‘Freestyle’, was one of the many stars raking in the money via paid for platform OnlyFans, which allows subscribers to pay to see more of their favourite accounts.

Iggy, who first joined the platform in 2023 to post her creative project called ‘Hotter Than Hell’, reportedly earned $48 million in her first year on the website. As more and more fans subscribed, her earnings grew and at one point she was reported to be taking home monthly earnings of $9.2 million (£7m).

Now, she’s opened up on why she exited the platform and where she’s focusing her efforts now as she builds a network and community on social messaging service Telegram and focuses on cryptocurrency with her $MOTHER crypto coin.

Now on Telegram, the star opened up as she revealed she’s not raking in the cash like she used to, but sees the platforms and their audiences as being very similar.

Speaking to the Unchained podcast, the star told presenter Laura Shin: “I mean, I’m sure a lot of people wouldn’t like to hear it in a way because people think about OnlyFans and they think that it’s so sexually deviant and a lot of it is, obviously.

“But a lot of it isn’t, and so for me to say what I’m going to say right now and say it’s really not that different, I’m sure a lot of people would like to think they’re a lot different to the people that go on OnlyFans.”

She also revealed that her initial foray into OnlyFans stemmed from wanting to post racy content that she knew she couldn’t upload to Instagram.

She added: “I ended up getting really sick and not being able to complete that, but what I did learn was that a lot more of my people that I would talk to every day just seemed like they wanted regular human interaction or friendship more than they wanted a transactional relationship.”

Noticing that her fans weren’t as interested in the sexy content as they were in having someone to talk to, Iggy said messages from fans made her realise that it was ‘really just more about friendship connection’ which was ‘beyond monetary’.

As a result she moved away from OnlyFans and instead switched to Telegram, which still allows her to make money but in a different method. The platform currently allows users to generate income via ads, products or services, or offering a paid subscription for premium content.

In June, Iggy announced her departure from OnlyFans as she updated fans: “Hey everyone! I enjoyed our conversations so much – but I’ve decided I don’t have enough time to chat via this page anymore.

“You can find me on telegram. If you miss me too much! Bye for now.”

Iggy has also previously hit out after fans moaned about her OnlyFans fee.

The star spoke out in February when she commented on her previous fee of $25 in relation to a fan’s request to ‘please show more on your OnlyFans’.

The rapper responded publicly on social media as she said: “Anyone saying that is broke and hasn’t unlocked the paid content because I pose nude.

“It’s $25 entry, not $25 for full access. They thought wrong.”
