A social media influencer and mom-of-two has died aged 27 after reportedly choking to death while eating dinner.
Carol Acosta had garnered over six million followers on Instagram, and was more commonly known to her social media users as Killadamente.
Acosta was reportedly having a meal at a New York restaurant on Saturday (January 4) when the tragic incident happened.
The Mirror reports that Acosta died after she began to choke on her dinner in Manhattan and had trouble breathing.
A cousin of the social media influencer said: “I know everyone wants to know what happened, but we still are not too sure and we are awaiting the post-mortem results.
“All I know is that she was having dinner as normal and she began to choke and have difficulties breathing. She had an attack of some kind, she was taken to hospital, but they couldn’t save her.”
Acosta’s sister, Khatyan, took to Instagram to share the tragic news that her older sibling had passed away.
“I love you sister and I will always love you,” she wrote. “I give thanks to God for giving me a sister like you with your big heart. Rest in peace my sister.”
According to the Daily Mail, the devastated sister addressed the tragic news in an emotional video address.
Khatyan said: “To all the people who are sending me messages of condolences, I want to thank you a lot for being there and for your support. And thank you also for supporting my sister while she was still alive.”
A GoFundMe page has since been set up to help support Acosta’s family with funeral costs.
The fundraiser stated: “Today, January 3, 2025, our beloved Carolar, better known as KILLADAM, has passed away. The Acosta González family shares their pain with all the people who knew Carolar. At her young age, Carolar managed to help thousands of people through her work, but On this occasion we join together and ask for your help to give her a farewell as she deserves.
“If it is within your means, we would appreciate a collaboration, no matter how minimal it may be, to cover the funeral expenses and so that the family and their children can overcome this great loss and the void that Carolar is leaving in our hearts today.”
Many of the influencer’s fans have taken to social media to pay their respects.
“Thank you for always being you, I love you queen, RIP,” one person penned while another added: “I can’t believe it, I’m still hoping it’s fake.”
