A sequence in the upcoming Mission Impossible film is so intense that it has left a fan on the verge of ‘a heart attack’, according to the movie’s director.
The franchise is well known for its high octane moments, with the newest one set to feature Tom Cruise walking on the top of an actual biplane.
The next instalment, called Mission Impossible – The Final Reckoning, is rumoured to be the final movie in the franchise.
Though this has not yet been confirmed, if viewers continue to undergo medical emergencies any time they watch the movie, it just might be.
Christopher McQuarrie, the director of the film, spoke to Empire Magazine for a new interview, in which he said: “We had a small screening, and someone said, ‘I was suffocating throughout the entire sequence. I almost had a heart attack’.
“I thought, ‘I guess we did something right’.”
McQuarrie is now a veteran of the Mission Impossible films, with Final Reckoning being his fourth, adding to Rogue Nation, Fallout, and Dead Reckoning: Part One.
While there have been rumours that the Mission Impossible series could end after the next film, Tom Cruise doesn’t seem to be behind these.
The actor, who has been part of the franchise for almost 30 years now, said in a recent interview that he had a great deal of admiration for Harrison Ford, saying: “Harrison Ford is a legend. I hope to still be going. I’ve got 20 years to catch up with him. I hope to keep making Mission: Impossible films until I’m his age.”
Harrison Ford is 82, two decades older than Cruise.
Cruise will not be the only cast member returning for the upcoming sequel which will continue the story of Dead Reckoning: Part One.
Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Vanessa Kirby, Mariela Garriga, Henry Czerny, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Charles Parnell, and Frederick Schmidt are all set to return to their roles from the previous film.
In addition, Angela Bassett will be reprising her role as CIA Director Erika Sloane from Mission Impossible: Fallout.
Despite what already seems like a monstrously large cast, there will also be other actors making their Mission Impossible debut in the film.
Nick Offerman, Hannah Waddingham, Katy O’Brian, Janet McTeer, Holt McCallany, and Stephen Oyoung are all set to appear in the film.
The film is set to release in May of this year, and has a massive reported budget of $400 million.
