A YouTuber took it upon himself to trade a penny for a house, and this is how it went in just one day.
Content creator Ryan Trahan is known for pushing himself to the limits when it comes to his videos, from staying in the world’s loneliest house to being in the world’s loudest room.
But now, the American influencer has made a near impossible challenge for him to achieve, as he tried to trade a single penny up to a house.
Trahan explained that that he wanted to get ‘a house’ for one of his subscribers, managing to make his first trade, acquiring a pen.
He told locals that he was trying to go viral on YouTube. While some sighed at the prospect, others were more than happy to help, purposely giving him items worth more to help with his challenge.
But at the start, he would have to make baby steps, going from a pen to a miniature blue dinosaur, up to half a box of mints, worth $1.50.
Somehow, he managed to trade this for a pair of wired headphones, more than quadrupling his value to $8.
In an attempt to get people to get in on the challenge, he also put flyers up around town, while visiting as many garage sales as he could find.
The method worked, as he found something incredibly a valuable: a vintage polaroid camera for his earphones at a garage sale.
To top it all off, it was a working camera that still printed pictures, worth $45.
He then met two men in town, who originally had nothing to offer – until they did.
Messaging the influencer that night, while the YouTuber had tried to trade for an item in a ‘rich neighbourhood’, as he described it, it turns out that they had something that would help him progress.
The men bizarrely traded a pair of professional grade PA speakers for his polaroid.
Huge in size, he managed to get them home and put them up for sale online for $200, though they were $125 in reality.
In just one day, he managed to make a $124.99 profit, with six days left in the challenge.
Here’s a spoiler: He failed. To do it in a week, that is.
In a month, the content creator managed to trade up to a car, which was then traded for a home, with his subscriber and her boyfriend over the moon.
I guess anything is possible with a few million subscribers.
