People left terrified after couple spot chilling detail in image after taking photos on mountain hike

A couple were left terrified after they noticed something pretty spooky in a photograph they took while hiking in West Virginia, US.

Duffy Springfield took to Reddit where she explained she had been looking through photos with her boyfriend when they spotted something odd in one of the pictures.

“My boyfriend and I aren’t really sure what to think,” she wrote.

“We went to a state park in West Virginia during off season, according to the park ranger (and the conditions of the hiking trails) we were the only ones there for the week and had been the first there in a while.

“I took this pic at the top of the mountain. Behind the pillar should have been nothing, a drop off to the woods below. are we bugging?”

Springfield shared two photographs, one of the mountainous region and another close up shot of one area of the photograph in particular.

“That really looks like a hand,” she wrote.

The close-up shot is pretty spooky, revealing what looks like a hand gripping onto the pillar.

One person commented on the post: “Could be fungus but yeah that really looks like a hand.”

While another said: “Perhaps the first genuinely oddly terrifying thing I’ve seen on here.”

And a third added: “Yes, when you look at the shadow on the ground, it seems someone’s back sticks out a bit. Which correlates with the position of the sun.”

And a fourth warned: “Don’t go again after dark.”

Springfield later told Newsweek: “I like to do film photography, and my boyfriend and I were making a scrapbook of all the developed photos I took. I just kinda saw it – I’m not really sure how I even noticed it since it’s such a small detail.

“We both agreed it was weird and thought it even looked a little like a hand.

“Honestly, we were pretty excited when we saw it because of all the cryptids said to lurk in the West Virginian mountains.

“Even if it’s not actually a hand, it’s a fun story to have.”

Cryptids are mysterious folklore creatures that some people believe are real, with West Virginia being a particularly well-known location for the likes of Bigfoot, who is believed by some to live in the mountainous region.

“I mean we were basically in the Appalachians so it could be bigfoot!” said Springfield.

While another said: “Seems like you’ve found a photo of Bigfoot’s lesser known cousin, Littlehand.”
