Stephen King tells fans to watch 100% Rotten Tomatoes rated Netflix show that has a ‘Stranger Things vibe’

netflix series stephen king perfect rotten tomatoes score

A Netflix series with a ‘Stranger Things’ vibe and a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score has been praised by horror legend Stephen King.

In fact, the King of Horror is such a fan of the show, he says – modestly – it reminds him of his own work.

The author is famed for a plethora of hugely successful novels which have since been adapted into movies and TV series.

From blockbusters IT and Carrie to The Shining and more, you’re bound to have seen a King adaptation in your time.

And right now, Netflix has a huge selection of flicks to get through, including Mike Flanagan’s eerie adaptation of Gerald’s Game.

Fans say its the ‘creepiest show they’ve ever watched’ (Netflix)

Anyway, this eight-episode series has has been hailed as ‘one of the best,’ with viewers claiming it’s the ‘creepiest thing’ they’ve ever watched.

The French language drama follows Emma, a famous horror writer.

Sure, it might sound cliche – but hear us out…

Some 15 years prior, the author experienced blood-curdling nightmares of an evil spirit tormenting her.

Done with writing, she’s killed off her main character and is forced to return to her quiet hometown.

There, a childhood friend makes an unusual admission; she believes she’s the witch from Emma’s novels.

It only gets weirder from there on out, as Emma’s evil spirit makes an unwelcome reappearance.

The series is called Marianne and you can watch its trailer below:

Back in 2019, King took to X to praise the series.

“If you’re one of those sickos–like me–who enjoys being scared, MARIANNE (Netflix) will do the job,” he wrote.

“There are glints of humor that give it a STRANGER THINGS vibe. It also has (I say it with all due modesty) a Stephen King vibe.”

So, this series could be ideal to plug that Stranger Things-shaped hole that’s been left in our lives since 2022.

That’s right, it’s been three years since season four of the hit sci-fi, but its fifth and final season is rumored to be dropping this fall.

Marianne was rated 100 percent by Rotten Tomatoes critics (Netflix)

Meanwhile, Rotten Tomatoes critics rated Marianne a perfect 100 percent, with their consensus reading: “Smart and scary with the most unsettling pair of eyes since Nicolas Cage in Vampire’s Kiss, Marianne is pure nightmare fuel.”

Audience members echoed similar sentiments, as one declared: “Possibly the best horror series I’ve ever seen. I’m about to give it a rewatch.”

Rating it five stars, another described it as ‘horror at its finest’ as a third said: “One of the scariest shows I’ve seen. Very well written, acted and directed.”

Marianne is available to stream now on Netflix.
