Study reveals the ’10 most beautiful supermodels in the world’ according to science

ten most beautful models according to science

The ’10 most beautiful supermodels in the world’ have been revealed, thanks to science.

While beauty is in the eye of the beholder, it seems science says otherwise as a new study has ranked some of the world’s most stunning famous faces against specific criteria.

It’s called the ‘Golden Ratio‘, which is derived from an equation used by the ancient Greeks to measure beauty.

The idea is that the closer the ratios are of key components like facial shape and jawline to the number 1.618, the more beautiful they are.

Dr Julian De Silva, a facial cosmetic surgeon in London, said: “We all wonder who is really the most beautiful of all the supermodels and this is the closest we can get to an explanation based on facial symmetry and classically beautiful features.”

So, who tops the charts?

1. Kate Moss

British supermodel Kate Moss, who shot to fame in the 1990s, is apparently the best of the best, scoring 94.14 percent in the study.

The now 51-year-old came the closest to the ancient Greeks’ idea of ‘perfection’ based on her impeccable eye positioning, face shape, nose base/lip width and, obviously, jawline.

The doctor added Moss’ ‘two stand-out features’ are ‘her almost perfectly shaped jawline which scored highest with 96.5 percent and chin (95.6 percent)’.

2. Cindy Crawford

Cindy Crawford, who splashed on the front pages and runways throughout the 1980s and 1990s, followed not far behind from Moss with a score of 93.86 percent.

The 58-year-old Illinois model would have trumped the Brit ‘if she had not scored poorly for her lips’ with 84 percent, Dr Silva said, but she did score well overall in three categories for her chin (99.9 percent), eye position (99.4 percent) and forehead (98.6 percent).

3. Gisele Bündchen

Brazilian-born Gisele Bündchen, 44, came in third place for her score of 93.11 percent.

Dr De Silva highlighted that Bundchen has the ‘best gap’ between her lips and nose compared to the other models on this list.

4. Jourdan Dunn

The UK’s Jourdan Dunn, 34, scored 91.39 percent.

Dunn, who was scouted after she was seen shopping in 2006, is ‘the most beautiful of the current crop’, but lost marks for her nose shape and forehead.

5. Winnie Harlow

In position five was Canada’s Winnie Harlow, 30, who scored 91.03 percent.

Though Harlow took home the crown for having the ‘most attractive face shape’.

6. Kendall Jenner

While Los Angeles star, Kendall Jenner, 29, who is currently the highest paid model in the world, followed relatively closely with a score of 91.00 percent.

7. Liu Wen

Liu Wen, 36, who was the first Chinese model to appear in Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, wasn’t far behind the Keeping Up With the Kardashians celeb, scoring 90.98 percent.

8. Cara Delevingne

Perhaps surprisingly, Cara Delevingne, 32, came in eighth place on the list, with a score of 89.97 percent.

9. Emily Ratajkowski

Delevingne was almost trumped by fellow London-born Emily Ratajkowski, 33, who was rated 89.37 percent.

This is despite the fact the study found Delevingne to have the best lips and eyebrows, while Ratajkowski’s nose is ‘almost perfectly shaped’ scoring 99.56 percent, ‘the highest on the list’, Dr De Silva remarked, but was ‘let down’ by her eyebrows and jawline.

10. Naomi Campbell

And last may come as even more of a shock as 54-year-old Naomi Campbell, also born in London, who was dubbed just one of six models in her generation a ‘supermodel’ by the international fashion industry, scored just 89.26 percent.

Dr De Silva added: “Naomi was a trailblazer in the 1990s and, 30 years on from her peak, is still one of the most beautiful women in the world. She had the second highest score for her eyebrows (89.9 percent) but scored poorly for her chin (80.4 percent).”
