A teacher penned a list of banned words and phrases that students aren’t allowed to use in her classroom, and people have had a lot to say about it.
While words like vibe, slay and YOLO were once popular with youngsters, they’ve since been replaced with a series of newer phrases meaning millennials who still use the outdated terms are officially no longer cool, as such.
As these new phrases take over classrooms across the country, one teacher has grown tired of hearing them and officially banned them from her classroom.
The unnamed teacher’s child took to Reddit to share a photo of the list to Reddit.
“My mom teaches sophomores in high school and she has this on her board,” they wrote alongside the photo, “I told her it could be a lot worse.”

Shared less than 24 hours ago at the time of writing, the post has already been upvoted a whopping 43,000 times.
People have since shared their suggestions on the issue of teenagers over using the words and phrases in questions.

One person said: “Just start saying those words if you’re an adult. The fastest way to uncool something is to adopt it.”
Echoing similar sentiments, someone else said: “Incorrect approach. Use the words more than them, the word will die.”
“Tell your mom to just start using those words in her teaching,” added another. “They will DEFINITELY stop using them. I use their words all the time and they do it less.”
Elsewhere someone said: “These kids are insane.”
While some shared the same grievances as the teacher in question, others argued that we should just let kids be kids.

One person wrote on the Reddit thread: “Let kids have their own culture. None of those words being used is harming anyone in any way nor is it somehow magically interfering with their education providing the teacher is actually teaching.”
A different person argued: “Stop banning words and the sense of self teens are creating with their weird culture and focus on teaching, and making the world around you better.”
“Let the f**king kids and teens be kids and teens and thus weird and sometimes annoying as hell and move on,” their comment continued.
