Viewers calling ‘insane’ Netflix series ‘better than Squid Game’ following ‘disappointing’ season 2

squid game season 2 alice in borderland

A Netflix series is being branded ‘way better’ than Squid Game with some viewers having been left disappointed with the South Korean’s second season.

With the hotly anticipated second season of Squid Game having been met with an underwhelming response from fans after it was released on December 26 onto Netflix, some viewers are now hunting for another survival-type series to sink their teeth into to make the bleak month of January the slightest bit more bearable.

Written by Yoshiki Watabe, Yasuko Kuramitsu and Shinsuke Sato, the series is also directed by Sato.

Based on the manga series of the same name by Haro Aso, the sci-fi drama centers around characters trapped in an abandoned Tokyo, Japan and forced to participate in a series of games in a bid to survive.

It stars the likes of Kento Yamazaki, Tao Tsuchiya and Nijirō Murakami.

And while the series – titled Alice in Borderland – first premiered on Netflix in 2020, some viewers have only just discovered it recently, flocking to social media to share their reviews.

Alice in Borderland has obtained an officially fresh Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score of 86 percent and audience score of 91 and the love for it hasn’t stopped there either.

A Facebook user shared a poster of the show to LADbible Facebook Group Netflix Bangers on December 28 – just days after the release of the second season of Squid Game – writing: “Agree with me or not but ALICE IN BORDERLAND>>SQUID GAME.”

And it’s not taken long for others to weigh in.

A user chimed: “Better story, better characters, more interesting games. Insane plot twist.

Overall Alice in Borderland is way better than Squid Game.”

Alice in Borderland is insanely good! Deserve the hype like Squid Game got but sadly doesn’t get it,” another added.

A third commented: “Alice in Borderland have more serious and badass characters than SG.”

“After watching Squid Game 2 I would have to say Alice in Borderland is better,” a fourth said.

Although, another user wrote: “Sigh… Well this game is getting boring…Why keep setting two Asian series that happen to involve survival games, but apart from that have very little in common, against each other all the time? Can’t we just really enjoy both.

“As an aside though, it’s funny how so many seem to have forgotten the outrage and disappointment at how Alice season 2 ended (even though it’s obviously inspired by Alice in Wonderland).”

So, what do you think?
