Residents have shared horrific details of an incident that saw a woman get mauled by her neighbor’s dogs while on her own property.
The Louisiana woman is recovering in hospital after ‘almost losing her leg’ during the vicious attack where more than one dog began mauling her when she fell over on the driveway of her home in Livingston Parish, on Tuesday (October 29).
Helpless neighbors could only watch as the incident unfolded. With the dogs being known to show aggression and even biting residents in the past, they dialled 911.
Cheryl Boudreaux, the daughter of an elderly woman who lives on the street, Randall Avenue, explained how her mom was too scared to speak out about the ordeal and so decided to speak to local TV outlet WBRZ 2 herself.
“They’ve bitten my mom twice. My mom is 85 years old, both times she required medical attention,” she said.
It was her mom that called the emergency services moments before the attack, reporting that the woman had fallen over.

Boudreaux continued: “She had to stand there and watch it. She was like, ‘Y’all need to hurry up and get here. Hurry up and get here. They are eating this woman.’ Then, Mama said the lady wasn’t moving and Mama thought she was dead.”
She explained that when the cops arrived, they ‘finally took the dogs away’, adding ‘that’s the first time’, as she stressed that it shouldn’t take a serious injury for dogs that are known for biting to be taken from their owner.
“We’re just furious, you know, because we don’t understand why it had to get to this,” Boudreaux said.
Horrifically, Randall Averette, a nearby resident of in the Denham Springs neighborhood, provided further details of the incident and told the local station that the woman was trying to get up when the dogs attacked.
The senior citizen said: “When I went over there, she was laying on the ground, paramedics bandaging her up.”

Before explaining how she was partially eaten by the dogs, adding: “The paramedics said that her left leg was torn up pretty good around her calf, her right leg was bit, her arm was bit and the dog bit her on the back of the neck.”
Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard has confirmed that two of the three dogs owned by the woman’s neighbor were taken to the pound on Wednesday (October 30), although it is not yet known whether they have been put down.
He did however recall that a similar incident took place not too long ago, involving the same owner.
Ard added: “The last time we went through the paperwork to get the dog [considered] dangerous, we couldn’t actually identify the dog. Now, we have been able to identify the dog. Unfortunately, someone has almost lost their leg because of this.”
